A series of mixed-ligand complexes were synthesized in ethanol using an equimolar (1:1:1:1) combination of 8-hydroxyquinoline, 3-aminophenol, and L-Alanine. Comprehensive characterization, including spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV-Vis, Mass), elemental (atomic absorption), and physical (conductivity, magnetism) methods, supported the assignment of an octahedral coordination geometry. The inhibition effects of ligands and their complexes at concentration of 10-3 were studied using agar against several pathogenic microorganisms such as K. pneumoniae, E. coli, S.aureus, S.epidermidis and C.albicans. The results revealed that the ligand 8-Hydroxuquinoline (8HQ) exhibited the strongest inhibitory activity for the growth of bacteria isolated with an inhibitory diameter (45, 44, 42,42, 38) mm on the growth of E. coli, S. epidermidis, K. pneumonia, C. albicans and S. aureus respectively, and ligand L. Alanine (Ala) also demonstrated inhibitory efficacy ranging from (40 to 14 )mm. The complexes also have a clear effect, and the most effective of them was [Mn(L1) (L2) (L3) (H2O)2Cl]Cl2, which exhibited an inhibitory diameter of (39 and 38) mm on K.pneumonia and S. aureus , 32 mm on C.albicans, 31mm on S.epidermidis and 18mm on E.coli. Also, all complexes gave varying inhibitory activities, which are related to the growth of bacteria and fungi.
