Instructions to Authors: How to prepare your manuscript for submission

The guidelines provided in this document are to help you prepare your manuscript for submission to conform to the Iraqi Journal of Science style and formatting, which need to be adhered to while preparing your manuscript. So, please follow these detailed instructions carefully...

Prior to that, we encourage you to consider the aim and scope of the journal before submitting your paper. You can find them in the journal's About us section. So, when writing your paper try to be specific, concise, and straightforward to accomplish clear and specific aim and scope that fit those of the journal. The journal annotated template and its list of guidelines are as follows.

01-Cover Letter

02- IJS Template (.docx, .pdf)

03- Citation and Referencing Guidelines

04- Copyright Form

05- Declaration Form

Moreover, the standard policy of the IJS for publication of human and/or animal studies requires ethical approval (i.e. including an appropriate statement); please complete and upload this form with your manuscript submission.

06- Application for Biomedical Research Ethics Review

Important Notes:

1) All manuscripts submitted to the IJS are subject to the plagiarism check by using Turnitin checker where the similarity index should be below 20%.  Any manuscript with similarity index more than 30 % is subject to the immediate reject by the editors. Manuscripts with similarity index between 20-30 % are given one chance for correction. In case that any manipulation is proven with the aim of circumventing the plagiarism program, the manuscript will be rejected and researchers participating in the manuscript are prohibited from publishing in the journal in the future. At the same time, the journal will formally notify the researchers' affiliation with the subject so that the appropriate legal action can be taken according to the instructions and laws of that authority.

2) The plagiarism from one single reference must be below 5%, and if it exceeded 10% the manuscript will be subject to immediate rejection

3) The acceptable percentage of use of artificial intelligence in a manuscript is 20% and below. If the percentage of artificial intelligence used in the manuscript is between 20-40%, the manuscript will be returned to the author for correction only once. A manuscript with artificial intelligence more than 40% will be rejected immediately and permanently. In such case, the author has no right to resubmit this manuscript in any form.

4) The author’s name(s), order, and spelling will appear in the final published version as written in the initial submission by the corresponding author. However, any corrections to the author's name(s) after that are not allowed.

Note about Preprints

We would like to point out that the Iraqi Journal of Science does not accept manuscripts submitted for publication if they are published in the form of "not peer reviewed preprints" or if they are with high plagiarism index because they are stored in the Turnitin checker plagiarism database.

Disclose the use of AI in their manuscript, typically in the "Methods" or "Acknowledgements" section.
